Living Towers started in 2010 with a simple idea: help people grow their own fresh food. What began as one of the first Tower Garden farms in the U.S. has grown into a family business helping home growers and commercial farms across the U.S.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
It Started With a Simple Idea

Living Towers was started in Eustis, Florida, in 2010 by Jan Young. As a naturopath, Jan had always believed strongly in the importance of healthy, high-quality food. She wanted to help people grow fresh food for themselves — even if they didn't have years of gardening experience.
What started as a 2,200-square-foot greenhouse quickly grew to 4,400 square feet, with hundreds of Tower Gardens growing at the farm. Living Towers became one of the first Tower Garden farms in the U.S. and the first to ship ready-to-plant seedlings to Tower Garden growers.
But growing food was only part of it. Education was there from the beginning. Living Towers held monthly workshops where people could see the systems in action and learn how to grow successfully for themselves. Growers traveled from across Florida — and from around the country — to attend.
The goal was simple then, and it still is today: help people grow their own fresh food and give them the knowledge to succeed.
FROM SKYDIVING TO GROWING
We Started With Zero Growing Experience
When Living Towers began in 2010, Jan's son Jason and his wife Dee were working as skydiving instructors. Growing food wasn't exactly part of the résumé.
We started stopping by to help Jan with the new farm, and at the time, neither of us had any growing experience at all. We learned by doing — planting, harvesting, troubleshooting problems, working with hundreds of Tower Gardens and helping other growers learn alongside us.
Somewhere along the way, helping Jan with Living Towers became our passion too.
Before Living Towers became our passion, we were skydiving instructors.
We remember what it's like to look at a Tower Garden and wonder, “Can I actually grow this?” We started there too.
A NEW CHAPTER
Bringing Living Towers to the Florida Keys
In 2018, we moved to the Florida Keys, where Jason grew up. We wanted to show that even on a chain of islands — with the heat, humidity and very little traditional gardening space — people could still grow their own fresh food.
We opened a second Living Towers location in the Keys in 2019 and brought our seedling growing and shipping operation with us. What started as a way to serve our local community continued to grow, with seedlings heading to Tower Garden and hydroponic growers across the country.
In 2022, Jan retired and moved to the Keys to be closer to family. We continued the Living Towers name and the mission she started back in 2010.

A Move to the Keys
We moved to the Florida Keys, where Jason grew up.

Living Towers Florida Keys
Our second location opened and seedling production and shipping moved to the Keys.

The Next Generation
Jan retired, and we continued the Living Towers name and mission.
