    Description

Oregano is a classic kitchen garden herb known for its bold, warm flavor and its essential role in Italian, Mediterranean, and Latin-American cuisine. Sometimes called Wild Marjoram, oregano is closely related to sweet marjoram and is widely used in dishes from Greek, Turkish, Spanish, Lebanese, and many other culinary traditions.

The plants can grow up to 30 inches tall and produce small pink flowers while spreading gradually through underground runners. The flavorful leaves can be used fresh, but oregano is most often harvested and dried to concentrate its rich, spicy aroma.

Native to the Mediterranean region and parts of western Asia, oregano is a tender perennial that grows well in warmer climates. In colder regions, it can be grown as an annual or kept in containers for indoor growing. 🌿

    Planting Instructions

Oregano is a standard kitchen herb used for Italian and Mexican dishes. Its dried leaves add a warm, spicy flavor to recipes. The plant is a perennial, has pink flowers, and spreads via under-ground runners. Oregano prefers to be kept slightly dry and in full sun.
Harvest in summer or early fall before the plants are in full bloom by cutting the stems, flower heads and all, and drying in a cool place with good air movement.

Plant 6-8 seeds per rockwool cube.
