Greens - Kale, Toscano Seeds

Grow classic Italian Toscano kale from seed. Also known as Tuscan kale, Lacinato kale, Dinosaur kale, Nero di Toscana, or Black Palm kale, this heirloom variety produces long, narrow leaves with a deep blue-green color and heavily textured surface.

Plants typically grow approximately 2–3 feet tall and produce a steady supply of leaves when harvested regularly from the bottom of the plant upward. The leaves have a rich, earthy flavor that becomes sweeter and more complex after exposure to frost.

Toscano kale has a long history in Italian cooking and is an excellent choice for soups, sautés, salads, smoothies, and other dishes. Regular harvesting encourages continued leaf production throughout the growing season.

When established, it will tolerate frost. Can be grown outside as soon as danger of hard frost is passed.
