Jalafuego is a vigorous, high-yielding jalapeno variety that produces smooth, dark green peppers approximately 3½–4 inches long. The large plants are later to mature than Early Jalapeno but offer higher yield potential.

The fruits are resistant to checking, helping reduce the small cracks that can sometimes develop in jalapeno skin.
