Description
Description
Early Prolific Straightneck is a classic summer squash variety that has become a staple in home gardens across the United States. The compact bush plants are highly productive, producing generous harvests of smooth, straight-necked squash with a bright light lemon-yellow color.
The fruits taper slightly toward the stem end and have tender skin when harvested young. While they can grow 12–14 inches long, they are at their best flavor and texture when picked at 5–6 inches, when the flesh is especially tender and succulent.
Developed by the Ferry-Morse Seed Company in Detroit, Michigan, Early Prolific Straightneck was introduced in 1938 and won an All-America Selections® award that same year. Its dependable productivity, mild flavor, and early harvest make it a favorite for fresh cooking, grilling, and sautéing. 🌱
